Challeges Experienced Clinical Practioners Paper

Seeing patients with chronic conditions is an essential consideration in providing care. Through seeing the patients, it is possible to assess how they are responding to care, as well as if they need any treatment changes (Ofri, 2020). However, in the process of seeing patients with chronic conditions, students in clinical practice may . This paper highlights the problem I encountered while seeing patients with chronic conditions and how I learned from the situation.

During my first day of seeing patients with chronic conditions, I encountered a situation that provided a learning opportunity. For one of the patients, I was required to take blood pressure and note the readings. Although I had seen a blood pressure machine before, I had not used it to take blood pressure. In measuring the blood pressure, I had the blood pressure cuff upside down on the patient’s elbow. As such, I struggled since I could not take the blood pressure. Luckily, my preceptor was around and pointed out the mistake I had done. Although I felt embarrassed before the patient, I mastered how it should be done.

From the situation, I learned that it is always important to know how to to provide care. Particularly, in the management of chronic conditions, it is important for a nurse to have knowledge of to facilitate care. Besides, I learned that it is good to ask for assistance if one does not know how to use a particular machine in the provision of care. However, since then, I made my assignment to know how to use different machines in the provision of care. I can now train others on in providing care.
